My heart is heavy Heavy like a rock But I am so amused He's still in my thoughts

When I look into your eyes I can see a love restrained But darlin' when I hold you Don't you know I feel the same 'Cause nothin' lasts forever And we both know hearts can change And it's hard to hold a candle In the cold November rain

    Power.

It's amazing how people can perceive and treat you differently simply by wearing *gasp* a skirt, or a dress, with heels to boot. Eyes linger a little longer, heads turn to take that second look, lifts are held for you, and you're given priority to board the bus.

    Click, clack, click, clack.

Is that power? Or can we look at it as "demeaning respect"? Come think of it, the act of chivalry itself is one big joke, isn't it? It presumes that the fairer sex is weaker and meeker, and generally not as gungho and capable as the self-acclaimed alpha males. If a woman is addressed as "my lady", does she have to reciprocate with "my lord"? Goodness gracious me, but lord? "Lord" makes a "lady" sounds as though she's just an accessory, her fairness and beauty not too different from the amount of land or number or troops owned by her lord. Just a prize to be won. A trophy.

Even in language there is no fair treatment for women. It's always "his or her", notice "his" THEN "her", or "he or she". Does the masculine form of the word have to come before the feminine? Also, "seminal", a word meaning of critical important, comes from "semen". It was only after the idea of chivalry got popular that "ladies and gentlemen" became a common opening phrase of an ang-mohish function (not too sure about Asian culture).

*ermz* Who cares man! Who'll mind the extra politeness and mannerisms man? Considering the massive crowd at the bus stop, who minds getting up the bus first man? Or should I say WOman?

    =)

Current music: Streets of London - Ralph McTell
Kaoz, I-Vern commented it's folk-songish! ~!@#$%^&*() Wat gibberish! Ah wells, to each his own taste in music. This song shall be played and replayed for many days to come. Jimmie doesn't go by playlists...the songs seem to just whoosh by, before one can truly sink in the mood of the music, appreciate the tune and savour the lyrics. Jimmie. Playlist. One song. Streets of London.
